Carey’s Elementary Education degree equips aspiring educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to not only support the academic development of their students, but also inspire change and make a lasting difference in their classrooms and beyond. Students will participate in challenging and innovative coursework taught by experienced K-12 educators and graduate as confident, empowered Christian leaders.

Meet the Dean

Dr. Teresa Poole

Teresa A. Poole, Dean, began her tenure with William Carey in 2018. Prior to this position, she served Mississippi K-12 students as a science teacher, high school assistant principal, elementary principal, director of curriculum, and Associate Superintendent in three Mississippi public school districts for over 25 years. During her tenure as a principal, she was named the Alternate Mississippi Administrator of the Year. Most recently, she completed coaching certification for the National Institute for School Leadership and completed the Mississippi School Boards Association Prospective Leadership Academy. She is married to Dr. Curtis Poole and they have two sons, Curtis Jr. and Christopher. She enjoys reading, attending her sons’ sporting events, working with the youth at her church, and trying out new recipes.
